It doesn’t matter how many times I go to write who I am and what I do, I never really get to capture what I am all about.
So let’s start off with saying that I am a mum of two beautiful children and wife to one of the best lawn mowing people going around.
Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher and absolutely loved school - well for the most of it. I often didn’t feel like I fitted in and I knew that I was smart but moved schools often so I always felt like I was playing catching up until my family moved back to Perth, Western Australia. It was on the drive up to Perth where I remember making the commitment to myself to be the best. I was 10 years old. And I didn’t say MY OWN best. I wanted to be THE BEST.
I started year 6 with an agenda and the determination to take control. I did everything possible to score the highest, be the fastest and most of all be recognised for all my achievements and successes. I worked hard and I learnt a lot of coping mechanisms.
Once I started high school and my hormones started firing away, I was unstoppable. I would set a goal and not only achieve it, annihilate it, often not concerned with others’ feelings along the way. In year 10, I became more aware of how I made people feel and I started focusing on what I wanted to achieve. No matter what goal I set for myself, I took the inspired action steps and achieved them. However, I was still very naive and didn’t have the ability to forward plan. I was running completely on autopilot and focused on what was ahead of me in the short term. I took this way of being into my late teens and university studies whilst becoming a teacher. I like to call this way of thinking and being as running on autopilot. I was ticking all the boxes of what I believed I was expected to be doing and following a plan which I later found out wasn’t my own.
After finishing my degree earlier, I started a position in a small rural school where I soon learnt what autopilot truly meant and how easily it was to stop looking after yourself when you were focused on looking after others. Throughout my 15 years as a I teacher, I maximised my organisational skills, time management skills, leadership skills, as well as, my public speaking skills (yes, skills, skills, and skills) and had a very successful career. So many beautiful students came in and out of my classrooms over the years and I am so grateful for the career I had.
Towards the end of my career, in 2017, I started my company Lead and Inspire and advocated for Teacher Well-being. The information and strategies I shared started to be of interest to not only those in education but to all women. So in 2020, I opened my workshops to all women. I shifted from Teacher Well-being to Women’s Empowerment and my teachings started to form under my trademark She Energy.
I worked with hundreds of women in my coaching series and online memberships and still encountered so many conversations with women who were disconnected with who they were, running on empty and constantly in their fight or flight response - I refer to this as the autopilot. You know that feeling when you arrive home and you question how you even got there and if you even stopped at the red lights. That feeling is autopilot. Going through life where you think you have no choice, it’s just the way it has to be at the moment and that things will be differently, soon, eventually or after X, Y and Z happens.
I find it so intriguing (and extremely frustrating) that we (yes me included) women are happy to put everyone else’s needs before our own and put our dreams on hold until ‘the kids are older’ and that this is accepted to be normal by all of us and those around us. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I realised how messed up these beliefs were and I especially did not want our daughter to inherit them. So I started to do something about it. I started to learn, grow, change and evolve. It was through my own personal development journey that I learnt the importance of self-care and placing a priority on yourself.
When I started to thrive. My whole family started to thrive!
As I continued to coach and present workshops I realised that we really needed to be having more of these types of conversations. How it is important to place a priority on your own needs and wants, and set up a plan to achieve them (my inner child was relishing in using those skills I learnt when I was younger).
I wanted to write a book that encapsulated how to reconnect with your own energy cycle and your own personal power, switch off that autopilot and take control of your life - creating who you truly want to be, have want you truly desire and do what you want with your life.
Now even as I write this, I can even hear myself disagreeing with myself. Like, yeah right, can I really do that?!
It is so easy to say the above but when you throw raising children, working and also trying to balance exercising, beauty treatments, meal preparation, household chores and the long list of other to-do’s we place on ourselves, it really can be overwhelming with the how and even the why. My why, is my children. I want them to both grow up feeling supported, loved and most of all, that I was present. Not burnt out and always busy. Even during my business journey I fell off the health bandwagon because I was determined to really reach out to as many women as possible. And I kept repeating patterns of behaviour, until one day, I went back to Chapter One of my book and gave myself permission to stop again. I continually go back to Chapter One because when I stop, I am able to reconnect into what it is that I truly want and who I want to be, what I want for my family and how I want to create my life. This stuff really works!
I really am committed to living like this.
And I really want this for you too!
By being in my sparkly space in the online world I will be sharing with you how you can reconnect with yourself, place a priority on your own needs again and really get clear on the life you want to create. I also bring my teaching experience to the table and share how you can support your children whilst they are going through school and encourage them to start their own personal development journeys at an earlier age. I want to reignite that spark inside of you, turn that autopilot switch off and support you to tap into the magic of your own energy cycle and manifesting powers.
